This board is brand new but has been removed from it’s original packaging and been on display in a retail setting. It’s never had bindings attached, wax, tuned, or used. It does have scuffs and marks from being handled shown in the pictures. Riding Style / Field of use. The sushi as a fish swims always up. Ultra-wide nose in combination with an extremely short tail are the perfect DNA for a great powder machine. Unfortunately we were not able to test Rossignols new Sushi under optimal conditions, because this splitboard with it’s fish shape and the extremely wide nose is made for deep snow and easy ascents. Nonetheless we can tell you, it’s fun on piste and on side-hit country, too. The Sushi is super agile and you can use the slope boundaries as a “mini wave”. Edge hold is surprisingly good. The quiver combination of XV Magtek Split and Sushi Split can be very interesting and would cover all possible conditions. The fish trend continues undiminished in the 2017/18 season. After Jones , K2 , TahoeLab , Amplid , Rossignol has started this season with a fish board. We ask ourselves how many days in one season you can ride these powder machines in our more or less snowless winters here in Europe. Lucky are those who have the next Japan trip ahead. Or those who can live or travel to locations where you can still find plenty of powder. We are grateful for every recommendation, anyone who has something to contribute to this topic, may write in our forum. So back to sushi.. Rossignol uses rubber strips of urethane (the same material that are used in making skateboard rolls) that runs close to the edge through the core of the board. This provides shock absorption along the edges, which means smaller bumps are easily absorbed and the edge hold is increased. Lots of taper provides tremendous float on deep days.
